IPTV Audio Out of Sync? 7 Ways to Fix Lip-Sync Delay

Quick answer: First, check whether the delay happens on one channel or on everything. If it’s one channel, switch the video player in IPTV Smarters Pro or try another version of the channel. If it’s everything, the cause is usually your audio setup: a soundbar, Bluetooth headphones, or the TV’s picture processing. Set the audio output to PCM or stereo, and use the TV’s or Fire TV’s audio delay adjustment.

Lip-sync delay is distracting out of all proportion to its size. Even a fraction of a second makes a show hard to watch. The fix depends on where the delay comes from, so start by narrowing it down.

Step 1: One channel or everything?

Switch between three or four channels and play something from the Movies section.

  • Only one channel is off: the issue is probably that stream. Try Fixes 1 to 3.
  • Everything is off, including movies: the issue is your device or audio equipment. Go to Fixes 4 to 7.
  • Other apps (like YouTube) are off too: it’s definitely your audio setup, not the IPTV service. Go straight to Fixes 4 to 7.

Fix 1: Restart the stream

Back out of the channel and open it again. Audio and video can drift apart after a brief network hiccup, and reopening the stream resyncs them. It’s the fastest fix and solves more cases than you’d expect.

Fix 2: Switch the video player

IPTV Smarters Pro can use different video engines. Open the app’s Settings, find Player Selection, and change the player for Live TV (and for Movies and Series if needed). Different players handle some audio formats better than others. If one channel’s sound lags in one player, it’s often fine in another.

Fix 3: Try another version of the channel

Many channels are listed more than once in different quality levels, such as FHD, HD, and SD. If the FHD version is out of sync, try the HD version. If one version keeps drifting, tell us the channel name and roughly what time you noticed, so we can check that source.

Fix 4: Change the audio output format

Surround-sound formats passed through to a soundbar or receiver are a very common cause of delay. On a Fire TV, go to Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio and look for Surround Sound or Dolby Digital Output. Switch it from Best Available to Stereo or PCM and test again. On Google TV, the equivalent is under Settings > Display & Sound > Advanced sound settings. Menu names vary by model and software version.

If that fixes it and you want surround sound back, try the next fix instead of living with the delay.

Fix 5: Use the audio delay adjustment

Most equipment lets you nudge audio earlier or later. Check, in this order:

  • Fire TV: Look under Settings > Display & Sounds > Audio for AV Sync Tuning (available on many models), which plays a test pattern and lets you adjust timing.
  • Your TV: Look in the sound settings for Audio Delay, Lip Sync, or AV Sync.
  • Your soundbar or receiver: Many have an AV Sync or Lip Sync setting in their app or remote menu.

Make small changes and test with someone talking on screen. Adjust only one device’s setting, so the adjustments don’t stack.

Fix 6: Turn off heavy picture processing

Motion smoothing and other picture-enhancement features take time to process each frame. That delays the picture while the sound keeps going, so the audio arrives early. In your TV’s picture settings, turn off Motion Smoothing (called Auto Motion Plus, TruMotion, MotionFlow, and other names depending on the brand), or try the Game picture mode, which skips most of that processing.

Fix 7: Bluetooth headphones and speakers

Bluetooth adds its own delay, and some headphones add a lot. If the delay only happens with Bluetooth:

  • Use the Fire TV’s AV Sync Tuning or the TV’s audio delay with the headphones connected.
  • Disconnect and reconnect the headphones, then restart the stream.
  • Consider headphones designed for TV, which often use a lower-delay connection.

When to restart everything

If nothing above helps, restart the whole chain in this order: the soundbar or receiver, the TV, then the streaming device. Holding Select + Play/Pause for about five seconds restarts a Fire Stick. Clearing the app’s cache under Settings > Applications > Manage Installed Applications also helps when the app has been running for weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Why is only one IPTV channel out of sync?

That points to the stream itself, or to how one player handles its audio format. Switch the player in IPTV Smarters Pro, try another quality version of the channel, and let us know which channel it is.

Why does my audio go out of sync after a while?

Small network interruptions can make audio and video drift apart during a long session. Reopening the channel resyncs them. If it happens often, a wired connection helps. See How to Stop IPTV Buffering.

Will a faster internet plan fix audio delay?

Rarely. Audio delay is almost always about the stream format or your audio equipment, not speed.
